Terms of Service
The rules, in plain language.

What Prism is
Prism is a web app for journaling with AI-assisted pattern recognition. You write or speak entries; our system classifies them, finds semantic connections, builds a behavioural model, and produces a weekly reflection called the Mirror. By creating an account or using the site as a signed-in user, you agree to these Terms of Service, to the Privacy Policy, and to the AI & Product Disclaimer, which together form the agreement between you and Prism (“we”, “us”). If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.
Beta status
Prism is currently in private beta. That means:
·Features are added, changed, and occasionally removed as we learn what works.
·Availability can be interrupted without notice for fixes, migrations, or model updates.
·The behavioural model and Mirror are improving continuously; output you see one week may look materially different the next as the pipeline evolves.
If you’re paying for a tier, we commit to fair-notice protection on material degradations (see Service changes below). Otherwise, beta comes with fewer guarantees than a fully-released product.
Your account
·You’re responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for all activity under your account.
·One person per account. No sharing logins or creating multiple accounts to bypass limits or bans.
·You must be at least 18. Prism processes deeply personal information — mental-state, mood, behavioural patterns — and is not appropriate for minors. Under the UAE Child Digital Safety Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 26 of 2025, effective 1 January 2026, full compliance required by 1 January 2027), any person under 18 is a “child”, with heightened protections triggered for under-13s (verifiable parental consent, no targeted advertising, plain-language privacy notices). Because the Law requires “effective age-verification mechanisms calibrated to platform risk” and Prism’s risk classification is high, we apply an 18+ floor via enforced attestation at signup. See Children’s Privacy and Age Policy for detail.
·We may require email verification. Unverified accounts may be restricted or removed.
·Prism is generally available worldwide, but you’re responsible for compliance with your local laws. We don’t serve users in jurisdictions subject to comprehensive sanctions or export controls (see Sanctions and export).
Acceptable use
Don’t use Prism to:
·Extract, scrape, reverse-engineer, or probe our systems beyond normal product usage.
·Upload content you don’t have the right to store — someone else’s private material, illegal content, malware, CSAM, or anything that violates applicable law.
·Abuse AI endpoints: automated bulk calls, jailbreak attempts against the model, or generating output intended to harass, defraud, or harm others.
·Circumvent rate limits, access controls, or the beta gate.
·Impersonate anyone, harass users, or use Prism in connection with hate speech or targeted abuse.
·Resell, sublicense, or white-label the product without a written agreement with us.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. Unless the situation is urgent or legally-compelled silence is required, we’ll tell you why. See our vulnerability disclosure policyif you’re researching security issues in good faith — that’s not a violation of this section.
Your content — ownership and licence
You own everything you write, dictate, or upload in Prism (“Your Content”). We don’t claim ownership of Your Content and we don’t use it to train AI models — ours or anyone else’s.
To operate the service, you grant Prism a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, non-sublicensable (except to the named subprocessors listed at Subprocessors, and only to the extent they need it to perform their role) licence to host, store, process, classify, embed, and display Your Content back to you, and to generate derived signals such as connections, insights, and the weekly Mirror. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account; deletion is immediate and permanent in our primary database, with residual copies purged from subprocessor caches and backups on their standard cycles (within 30 days).
See the Privacy Policy for the full list of subprocessors, retention windows, cross-border transfer basis, and your export and deletion controls.
AI output
See our separate AI & Product Disclaimer for the detail — including mental-health signposting. In short: the Mirror, connections, classifications, and any other AI-generated output are model outputs; they can be confidently wrong. Treat them as a prompt for your own reflection, not a verdict. You are responsible for any decision you make based on what Prism shows you.
Not medical, legal, or financial advice
Prism is nota therapist, doctor, psychiatrist, lawyer, accountant, or financial adviser. Nothing it produces is medical, mental-health, legal, tax, or investment advice. If you need clinical, legal, or financial help, talk to a qualified licensed professional in your jurisdiction. Don’t use Prism as a substitute for that care.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line immediately. See AI & Product Disclaimer for hotline numbers by region.
Subscriptions and payment
·Free tier — available while Prism operates a free plan. Subject to feature limits (AI-entry quota, history window, Mirror cadence) as described on the pricingpage. We may change free-tier limits with 30 days’ email notice.
·Founding Pro— introductory paid tier at $12.99/month or $99/year (USD), available to the first 500 paid subscribers. Once you’re on Founding Pro, that price is locked for as long as your subscription stays continuously active — we will not raise it on you. A lapse in payment of more than 30 days, or a self-initiated cancellation and later resubscription, re-prices you to whatever the then-current Pro tier costs.
·Pro— $24.99/month (USD), offered after Founding Pro fills. Same feature set as Founding Pro; different price.
·Billing — payments are processed by Stripe. Prism doesn’t see or store your card numbers; Stripe does, under its own terms and DPA. Charges are in USD; your bank may apply FX fees.
·Auto-renewal — express consent at checkout — paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. At checkout you explicitly confirm the auto-renewal price, renewal frequency, and the cancellation mechanism. You can cancel any time from Settings. After cancellation you retain paid access through the end of the current period. We do not pro-rate refunds for mid-period cancellations, except to the extent UAE Consumer Protection Law (Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 and its Executive Regulations, Cabinet Resolution No. 66 of 2023) or another non-waivable consumer-protection law grants you a pro-rate refund right — in which case that right prevails over this clause.
·Refunds for non-conforming service — under Article 13 of Federal Law No. 15 of 2020, where the service does not conform to what was offered (defective delivery, extended outage, material mis-description), you are entitled to your choice of: (i) full refund, (ii) partial refund for the unused portion, or (iii) re-performance. Email support@prismlens.net and we’ll honour that right. Beyond the Article 13 case, we don’t refund change-of-mind cancellations because UAE federal law does not impose a general digital-subscription cooling-off period; your local consumer-protection law may grant one and, if so, prevails.
·Price changes— we’ll email you at least 30 days before any new-customer price change becomes effective for existing subscribers, disclosing the new price and the effective date. You can cancel before the change takes effect; if the change takes effect during a pre-paid period you have already started, you retain the old price for the remainder of that period. Founding Pro price-lock holds through those changes.
·Taxes— prices are exclusive of any applicable VAT, sales tax, or withholding tax, which are added at checkout where required.
Communications
When you create an account, you consent to receive transactional emails from Prism — sign-in links, email-confirmation, password resets, billing receipts, weekly Mirror-ready notifications, beta invite status, and important service updates (security, outages, policy changes). You can’t opt out of these while your account is active; you can stop them entirely by deleting your account.
Any marketing or product-update newsletters are opt-in separately and unsubscribable at any time from the link at the bottom of those emails.
Service changes
We’re building actively. Features will be added, refined, and occasionally retired. If we make a change that materially degrades a feature you’re actively paying for, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ email notice. If the change is unacceptable to you, you can cancel before it takes effect and we’ll refund the unused portion of your current billing period.
Termination
·You can close your account any time from Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent in our database, including entries, embeddings, connections, insights, and Mirrors. Before you delete, you can export everything as JSON from Settings → Export my data.
·Wecan close or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the system, expose us to legal risk, or that we’re compelled to close by applicable law. We’ll give notice unless doing so would be unlawful or would prolong active harm.
·If we terminate a paid account without cause, we’ll refund the unused portion of your current billing period. Termination for cause (material breach of these Terms) is not refunded.
·After account deletion, sections of these Terms that by nature should survive — content licence for already-processed derived signals while backups roll off, disclaimers, liability caps, governing law — remain in effect.
No warranties, limited liability
Prism is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of AI output. We do our best to keep the service running and the model useful, but we can’t promise uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or that the Mirror will always be right or useful.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from or related to your use of Prism is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US $100. Neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. In particular, and without limiting the generality of the above, Prism is not liable for any decision you make — clinical, financial, personal, or otherwise — based on AI-generated output, the Mirror, behavioural model, or any other signal produced by the service; see AI & Product Disclaimer. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the minimum permitted by law.
Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify Prism against any third-party claim arising from content you upload in violation of these Terms, your breach of the acceptable-use rules, or your violation of applicable law in your use of the service. We’ll promptly tell you if such a claim lands and work with you on a reasonable defence.
Copyright and takedown
If you believe content stored in Prism (including in a user’s private entries, if it becomes publicly accessible through a bug or misuse) infringes your copyright, email support@prismlens.net with (1) identification of the work, (2) the URL or location within Prism, (3) your contact info, (4) a statement that you’re authorised to act, and (5) a good-faith certification that the use is unauthorised. We’ll review and respond within a reasonable time and may remove content and terminate repeat infringers.
Sanctions and export
Two independent sanctions regimes apply to your use of Prism:
·UAE federal sanctions— Cabinet Decision No. 74 of 2020 on the UAE Terrorism Lists Regulation and the implementation of UNSC Resolutions, together with the UAE Local Terrorist List and the UNSC Consolidated List. As a UAE-resident operator we are bound to implement targeted financial sanctions against any person or entity on those lists.
·US OFAC, via the Stripe chain— Stripe, our payment processor, is a US company subject to OFAC, and its Services Agreement requires you not to “use or otherwise export, re-export, or transfer” Stripe Technology except as authorised by US law. OFAC screening is therefore binding on Prism contractually, even though UAE statutory law does not independently incorporate the US unilateral sanctions list.
You represent that you’re not on any sanctions list maintained by the UN, the UAE (including the UAE Local Terrorist List), the US (including OFAC Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons), the UK, or the EU, and that you’re not located in a jurisdiction subject to comprehensive sanctions. You agree not to use Prism for any purpose prohibited by applicable sanctions or export-control laws. We may block or terminate accounts where sanctions screening flags a match, without liability to you.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Before filing any formal claim, both sides agree to first attempt resolution in good faith by email for at least 30 days. If that fails, disputes are submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Abu Dhabi, UAE.
If you’re a consumer in a jurisdiction that guarantees you the right to bring claims in your local courts or under local consumer-protection law, nothing in this section takes that right away. In particular, UAE consumers retain all rights granted by the UAE Consumer Protection Law (Federal Law No. 15 of 2020) and its Executive Regulations.
Changes to these terms
If we change anything material we’ll email active users at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and the new “last updated” date will appear at the top of this page. The version you agreed to at signup stays governing until the new version becomes effective. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t, close your account before then.
Miscellaneous
·Entire agreement — these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, AI & Product Disclaimer, and any tier-specific terms you agree to at checkout, are the complete agreement between you and Prism on this subject.
·Severability — if any provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
·No waiver — not enforcing a right once doesn’t waive it.
·Assignment — you can’t assign these Terms without our consent. We can assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all assets.
·Notices — we’ll notify you by email at the address on file. You can reach us at the email below.
